{"id":23804,"date":"2023-08-15T16:45:35","date_gmt":"2023-08-15T16:45:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hubeali.com\/?p=23804"},"modified":"2023-08-26T11:25:18","modified_gmt":"2023-08-26T11:25:18","slug":"al-laghwu-time-wasting-activities","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hubeali.com\/al-laghwu-time-wasting-activities\/","title":{"rendered":"Al-Laghwu (Time-wasting activities)"},"content":{"rendered":" Summary: \n The new trend of \u2018have a good time\u2019 or \u2018have fun\u2019 are frequently used in our society.\u00a0 This may mean \u2018do whatever is within the law of the land\u2019 without much consideration for the outcome our activities with respect to the Hereafter.\u00a0 We frequently waste valuable time without realising its better alternatives, sometimes just browsing interest, (i.e., social media) or outside loafing\/window shopping, gaming, clubbing, watching\/reading fiction – all these are good examples of wasteful activities and Islam forbids these.

\n Amir-ul-Momineen -asws says:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u2018hours of leisure (i.e., chilling around) pass away like summer-clouds, therefore, do not waste opportunity of doing good\u2019 [1] .\u00a0 It\u2019s a beautiful connexion to wasteful activities, since vegetation needs water in summer but not so during the winter, so these clouds of summer are important for the \u2018good return\u2019 from the earth in terms of food for human and animals \u2013 similarly our free time and energy should not be wasted on unnecessary activities but never in disobedience to Allah -azwj .\u00a0 Although that is never at back of our minds when we, initially, get engaged in these activities.

\n In many Ahadith, we are advised:\u00a0 \u2018to stay away from the matters of doubts (if these are lawful or unlawful), who walks around these eventually falls into the sins\u2019. [2] \n Also Amir-ul-Momineen -asws says: four things never get tired from the other four things, among those are the eyes, which never get tired from watching.

[3] \u00a0 Hence we frequently end-up spending more time on watching that – which is spiritually harmful and physically useless, as it keeps us away from the remembrance of Allah -azwj and His Pious and Infallible People -asws .
