[31] Climbing Over the Grave of the Holy Prophet -saww is Prohibited The narrator says ‘I was in Madina when the section of the roof of the Masjid (Mosque) that covers the grave of the Holy Prophet -saww had crumbled down and the workers were climbing up and down (for repairs). We were asked: ‘Who has an appointment with Abu ‘Abd Allah -asws ?

‘Mihran ibn abu Nasr and Isma’il ibn ‘Ammar al-Sayrafi both said, ‘I have an appointment with the Imam -asws .’ I said to them ‘Ask the Imam -asws if it is permissible to climb up and look on to the grave of the Holy Prophet -saww . Next day we met them’ and we all came together. ‘Isma’il said, ‘We asked your question and he -asws said this: “I do not want anyone to climb above his grave.
