He (Abu Bakr) wrote a letter to him, its content was, \u2018From caliph of Rasool-Allah -saww to Abu Quhafa. As for after, the people are in agreement with me, so today I am caliph of Allah -azwj . If you would come forward to us, it would be good from you\u2019.

\n When Abu Quhafa read the letter he said to the messenger, \u2018What prevented them from Ali \u2011asws ?\u2019 The messenger said, \u2018He -asws is of young age, and he -asws has killed a lot among the Quraysh and others, and Abu Bakr is older than him -asws \u2019. \n Abu Quhafa said, \u2018If this command in that was based upon the age, then I am more rightful than Abu Bakr is.

They have oppressed Ali -asws of his -asws right, and the Prophet -saww had got the allegiances to be pledged to him -asws , and had ordered us with pledging to him -asws \u2019. \n Then he (father of Abu Bakr) wrote to him (Abu Bakr), \u2018From Abu Quhafa to Abu Bakr. As for after, \u2018Your letter came to me and I find it to be a letter of an idiot, contradicting part of it with a part.

At times you are saying, \u2018Caliph of Allah -azwj \u2019, and at time you are saying, \u2018Caliph of Rasool-Allah -saww \u2019, and at times, \u2018The people are in agreement with me\u2019, and it is a vague matter. \n Do not enter into a matter it would be difficult for you to exit from it tomorrow, and your posterity would happen to be in regret from it, and the self-accusing soul would blame in front of the Reckoning on the Day of Qiyamah.

There are entrances and exits for the matters, and you know one who is foremost with it than you are. Watch out for Allah -azwj as if you can see Him -azwj , and do not leave out its (rightful) owner, for leaving it today is lighter upon you, and peace be to you\u2019\u2019.

[50] \n The Saqifa meeting, however, needs to be analysed as a reaction to the sermon of Rasool Allah -saww at Ghadeer-e-Khum, where Rasool Allah -saww announced: \u2018For the ones for whom I \u2011saww am Mola (Master), for them, Ali -asws is Mola \u2019 !

[51] \u00a0 A group among Muslims, disliked it so much that they agreed among themselves to stop Bani Hashim (mainly Ali -asws Ibn Abi Talib \u2011asws ) from succeeding to Caliphate.\u00a0 The leading hypocrites among them were the twelve (12) companions of Al-Uqba , who hatched their first plan when they covered their faces and intended to frighten the camel of the Messenger of Allah -saww .
