[1] Origin of name: The Surah is named after the word “Ra’d,” meaning “thunder,” which appears in Verse 13:13: \u00a0\u0648\u064e\u064a\u064f\u0633\u064e\u0628\u0651\u0650\u062d\u064f \u0627\u0644\u0631\u0651\u064e\u0639\u0652\u062f\u064f \u00a0\u00a0(And the thunder Glorifies with His Praise, and (so do) the Angels from His Awe, and He Sends the thunderbolts, so He Hits with these the ones He so Desires to, and they are disputing regarding Allah and He is Mighty in Strength 13:13).

\n A Jew asked, \u2018So is there anything else with this?\u2019 He -saww said: \u2018Yes\u2019. He said, \u2018Give\u2019. He -saww said: \u2018 Alif Lam Mim Ra. [13:1] \u2019. (See Appendix) [2] \n \u2018I entered to see Abu Abdullah -asws . He -asws permitted for me, and he -asws wasn\u2019t in his -asws seat. He -asws emerged to us from a side of the house from the presence of his -asws womenfolk, and there was no robe upon him -asws .

When he -asws looked at us, he -asws was welcoming with us. \n \u2018I said to Abu Ja\u2019far -asws , \u2018 But rather, you are a Warner, and for every people there is a Guide [13:7] . He -asws said: \u2018The warner is Rasool-Allah -saww and Ali -asws is the Guide, and during every era there is an Imam -asws from us -asws guiding them to what Rasool-Allah -saww came with\u2019\u2019.

[3] \n \u2018From Abu Ja\u2019far -asws or Abu Abdullah -asws regarding the Words of the Exalted: what every female bears [13:8] , meaning the male and the female.
