Shiavault - a Vault of Shia Islamic Books Istikhara: Seeking the Best from Allah (swt) Section 6: The Various Forms of Istikhara: Istikhara by Supplication The Recitation of the Phrase: `I seek the best from Allah' and the number of times to recite’ قَالَ الإِمَامُ الصَّادِقُ عَليهِ السَلامْ: تَقُولُهَا فِي الأَمْرِ الْعَظِيمِ مِائَةَ مَرَّةٍ و مَرَّةٍ وَ فِي الأَمْرِ ((أسْتَخِيرُ اللهَ)) الدُّون عَشْرَ مَرَّات.

al‑Imam al‑Sadiq (as), said: "In the case of an important action, recite: أَسْتَخِيرُكَ اللهَ `I seek the best from Allah' one hundred and one times, and for a lesser important action, recite it ten times.

" [^1]24 The Supplication for `Seeking the Best' and the Number of Times to Recite it قَالَ الإِمَامُ الصَّادِقُ عَليهِ السَلامْ: مَا اسْتخَارَ اللهَ عَبْدٌ سَبْعِينَ مَرَّةً بهَذِهِ الإِسْتِخَارَةِ إِلاَّ رَمَاهُ اللهُ بِالْخِيَرَةِ يَقُولُ: ((يَا أَبْصَرَ النَّاظِرِينَ وَيَاأَسْرَعَ الحَاسِبِينَ وَ يَا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِينَ وَ يَا أَحْكَمَ الْحاكِمِينَ صَلٌ عَلىَ مُحَمَّدٍ وَأَهْلِ بَيْتَهِ وَ خَرْلِي فِي الأَمْرِ الَّذِي أَرَدْتُ.)) al‑Imam al‑Sadiq (as), said: "No servant asks Allah for the best seventy times in this method except that Allah gives him what is best ‑ and he should say: يَا أَبْصَرَ النَّاظِرِينَ وَ يَأَ أَسْمَعَ السَّامِعِينَ وَ يَا أَسْرَعَ الْحَاسِبِينَ وَيَا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِيـنَ وَ أَحْكَمَ الْحَاكِمِينَ صَلَّ عَلىَ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ أَهْلِ بَيْتِهِ وَ خَرْلِي فِي الأَمْرِ الَّذِي أَرَدْتُ.

"[^2] The Supplication for Asking for the Best (Istikhara) قَالَ الإِمَامُ الصَّادِقُ عَليهِ السَلامْ: قالَ قُلِ ((أَللَّهُمَّ إِنَّي أَسْتَخِيرُكَ بِرَحْمَتِكَ وَ أَسْتَقْدِرُكَ الْخَيْرَ بِقُدْرَتِكَ عَلَيْهِ لأِنَّكَ عالِمُ الْغَيبِ وَ الشَّهادَةِ الرَّحْمَنُ الرِّحِيمُ فَأسْأَلُكَ أَنْ تُصَلِّيَ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ النَّبِيِّ وَ آلِهِ كَما صَلَّيْتَ عَلَى إبْراهِيمَ وَ آلِ إِبْراهِيمَ إِنَّكَ حَمِيدٌ مَجيدٌ.
