Suppose we plead to Allah to grant us a house, but Allah sees it is not in our best interest that He should grant us a house; what, then, should one do? Will He invalidate our plea? No, He gives us more than what we ask for. For example, He tells the angel to increase one’s lifespan a few years, while this wretch imagines that his plea was not answered and that his efforts were fruitless because he does not know that Allah granted him more than what he had asked for.
