Birds whose young ones are weak, without the strength to stand, such as the wild and domestic pigeons, have mothers with extra maternal instincts so that they can bring to their young ones mouths nourishment garnered by them in their crops. Such feedings continue till the chicks can fend for themselves. Pigeons dont have a large brood like hens to enable the females to rear them up adequately without starving them.
