Sa‘ïd composed poetry to satirize ‘Abd al-Malik b. Marwan, who killed ‘Amru b. Sa‘ïd al-Ashraq.[^13] Marwan was fond of cursing the Commander of the faithful. Marwan was fond of cursing Imam ‘Ali, the Commander of the faithful, peace be on him. He cursed him on the pulpit every Friday when he was the governor of Medina. Imam al-Hasan, peace be on him, knew of that, however, he kept silent. He did not enter the mosque but during the time of the iqama.
