They had waged a battle against the Banu Ziyad in retaliation to the battle fought by the latter against the Banu Zubaid.
Sibt bin al-Jawzi has briefly narrated this report in al-Tadhkirah (pg.266). He also narrates from al-Sha’bi that: “Marwan bin al-Hakam was in Madinah.
