Once again...
Once again, there are some traditions reported from the (‘a) involving the possible obligation of paying zakat on these items, but these traditions have been understood by the scholars of this school as being only a recommendation or as having been said as a consequence of taqiyyah .[^5] We can give two explanations for this minor difference supported by some points of evidence notwithstanding the scope of their accuracy.
(a) In Islamic legislation, zakat is in fact obligatory on the nine previously mentioned items, while it is only recommended to pay zakat for other items. The (‘a) are well known for their in-depth knowledge of this fact (i.e., the distinction between the items on which zakat is obligatory and those on which it is recommended), while other Muslims show confusion about it.
