While some philosophers like Al-Farabi and Ibn Sina were trying to reconcile the views of Aristotle with the Islamic aqida , others such as Al-Ghazzali accused this group of heresy and disbelief. After refuting the science of kalam and philosophy, he concluded that the Sufi path was the way to attain 'true knowledge' (Kasim, 1969); whereas Ibn Rushd endeavored to reconcile philosophy with religious law ( shari'a ).
