The Arabic, ``Imam'' which is usually translated to, Leader, Guide or pontiff, technically has other shades of meaning in Islam, such as; the spiritual and temporal head of IslamِAny of the twelve heads of Islam recognized by the ShiitesِAny person who leads the congregational prayerِAnd anyone who has authority in the theology and law. Hazrat Imam Ali is the first of the twelve Imams that are recognized by Shiites.
