For the purpose of this mas'alah, a man should not own any other residential house, and there must be some actual deal finalised (or nearing final stages); if that deal reduces the money to such an extent that hajj is not possible, then hajj is not wajib. But an imaginary danger of eviction after some unknown future eventuality, or just a vague plan to purchase a house at some time in distant future will not exempt him from hajj. Q.
