We are aware that after the demise of the Holy Prophet, the people pledged their allegiance to Abu Bakr, then ‘Umar and then ‘Uthman. During the caliphate of Uthman the corruption had reached its peak, this subsequently ledlead to the murder of ‘Uthman, after which Ali (as) was made to accept the Caliphate.
