Umar had converted to Islam in Mecca itself and if the verse is really concerned with the Battle of Badr, then it is not related to Umar. In the same way, the word of ‘believers’ mentioned in this verse is considered by Ahlul Sunnat as referring to the three Caliphs. We cannot find the reason of limiting it to the three Caliphs. There were so many believers; then why only the three are mentioned as ‘believers’? The condition of Ahlul Sunnat is like a drowning man who clutches at the straw.
