Such are in a worse situation, and more astray from the right way.’” [^13] لُعِنَ الَّذِینَ كَفَرُواْ مِن بَنِی إِسْرَآئِیلَ عَلىٰ لِسَانِ دَاوُودَ وَعِیسَى ابْنِ مَرْیَمَ ذٰلِكَ بِمَا عَصَوا وَّكَانُواْ یَعْتَدُونَ “The faithless among the Children of Israel were cursed on the tongue of David and Jesus son of Mary.

That, because they would disobey and used to commit transgression.” [^14] وَأُتْبِعُواْ فيِ هٰذِهِ لَعْنَةً وَیَوْمَ الْقِیَامَةِ بِئْسَ الرِّفْدُ الْمَرْفُودُ “They were pursued by a curse in this [world], as well as on the Day of Resurrection; evil is the reward conferred [upon them]!” [^15] وَأَتْبَعْنَاهُمْ فيِ هٰذِهِ الدُّنْیَا لَعْنَةً وَیَوْمَ الْقِیَامَةِ هُم مِّنَ الْمَقْبُوحِینَ “We made a curse pursue them in this world, and on the Day of Resurrection they will be among the disfigured.” [^16] 2.6 Those who disbelieved from among the People of the Book وَلَمَّا جَآءهُمْ کِتَابٌ مِّنْ عِنْدِ اللهِ مُصَدِّقٌ لِّمَا مَعَهُمْ وَكَانُواْ مِن قَبْلُ یَسْتَفْتِحُونَ عَلىٰ الَّذِینَ كَفَرُواْ فَلَمَّا جَآءَهُم مَّا عَرَفُواْ كَفَرُواْ بِهِ فَلَعْنَةُ اللهِ عَلىٰ الْكَافِرِینَ “And when there came to them a Book from God, confirming that which is with them—and earlier they would pray for victory over the pagans—so when there came to them what they recognized, they defied it.

So may the curse of God be upon the faithless!” [^17] مِنَ الَّذِینَ هَادُواْ یُحَرِّفُونَ الْكَلِمَ عَنْ مَّوَاضِعِهِ وَیَقُولُونَ سَمِعْنَا وَعَصَیْنَا وَاسْمَعْ غَیْرَ مُسْمَعٍ وَرَاعِنَا لَیًّا بِأَلْسِنَتِهِمْ وَطَعْنًا فِی الدِّینِ وَلَوْ أَنَّهُمْ قَالُواْ سَمِعْنَا وَأَطَعْنَا وَاسْمَعْ وَانظُرْنَا لَكَانَ خَیْرًا لَّهُمْ وَأَقْوَمَ وَلٰکِن لَّعَنَهُمُ اللهُ بِکُفْرِهِمْ فَلاَ یُؤْمِنُونَ إِلاَّ قَلِیلاً  یَا أَیُّهَا الَّذِینَ أُوتُواْ الْکِتَابَ آمِنُواْ بِمَا نَزَّلْنَا مُصَدِّقًا لِّمَا مَعَکُم مِّن قَبْلِ أَن نَّطْمِسَ وُجُوهًا فَنَرُدَّهَا عَلىٰ أَدْبَارِهَا أَوْ نَلْعَنَهُمْ كَمَا لَعَنَّا أَصْحَابَ السَّبْتِ وَكَانَ أَمْرُ اللهِ مَفْعُولاً “Among the Jews are those who pervert words from their meanings and say, ‘We hear and disobey’ and ‘Hear without listening!’ and ‘Ra‘ina,’ twisting their tongues and reviling the faith.
