Six things are used to test the faith of a man: the strength of his religion, the truth of his conviction, the intensity of his piety, his overcoming vain desires, the paucity of his [worldly] inclinations and his being moderate in what he seeks. 52ـ سِتَّةٌ يُخْتَبَرُ بِها دينُ الرَّجلِ: قُوَّةُ الدينِ، وصِدْقُ اليَقينِ، وَشِدَّةُ التَّقوى، ومُغالَبَةُ الهَوى، وقِلَّةُ الرََّغْبِ، والإجْمالُ فِي الطَّلَبِ. The pinnacle of religion is patience, certitude and struggling against vain desires.
