Such an interpretation of the matter fails to do justice either to the reality of the human spirit or to that of man himself. It is true that the body submits involuntarily to physiological law, but this observable reality does not lead to the conclusion that man is in his entirety chained to the laws of matter with the force of a mathematical equation.
