One on whom the remembrance of death weighs heavily, will find his grave to be one of the gardens of Paradise." [^1] Imam ‘Ali (as) has said: "اِذْكُروا هَادِمَ الَّلذّاتِ وَمُنَغِّصَ الشَّهوَاتِ وَدَاعِيَ الشَّتَاتِ اذْكُروا مُفَرِّقَ الجَمَاعَاتِ وَمُباعِدَ الاُمنِيَاتِ وَمُدنِيَ المنسيَّاتِ وَالمُؤذِنَ بِالبَينِ وَالشَتَاتِ" "Remember the destroyer of pleasures, the terminator of desires, the inviter to separations.

Remember the disperser of groups, the remover of hopes, the one that draws near what is to be forgotten, the announcer of partings and dispersions." [^2] Imam Sadiq (as) has said: "ذِِكرُ المَوتِ يُمِيتُ الشَّهَواتِ في النَّفسِ وَيَقطَعُ مَنَابِتَ الغَفلَةِ وَيُقَوّي القَلبَ بِمَواعِدِ الله ويُرقُّ الطَبْعَ وَيَكسِرُ اَعلاَمَ الهَوى وَيُطفِئُ نَارَ الحِرصِ وَيُحَقِّرُ الدُّنيا" "The remembrance of death kills desires in the soul, cuts off the sources of heedlessness and strengthens the heart through God's promises; it softens the temperament, breaks the sign-posts of whims, puts out the fire of greed and makes the world appear miserable and worthless." [^3] It is also narrated from Imam ‘Ali (as) his saying: "اَكثِرُوا ذِكْرَ المَوتِ وَيَومَ خُرُوجِكُم مِنَ القُبُورِ وَقِيَامَكُم بَينَ يَدَي الله" "Remember death frequently, and the day you will be resurrected from the graves and your standing before God; this remembrance will ease your disasters." [^4] The Prophet (S) has said: "لَو تَعلَم البَهائِمُ مِنَ المَوتِ مَا تَعلَمُونَ مَا اَكلتُم مِنهَا سَمِيناً" "If animals knew what we know of death, you would never eat a fat animal." [^5] Once a man’s name was mentioned in the presence of the Prophet (S) and he was praised.
