The Arabic word marij designates “agitation, confusion,” as it is said in the Holy Qur’an regarding the intermingling of the water of two seas “He has let loose the two seas [the salt and fresh water] intermingle” ^5 . The adjectival form marij is attested once in the Holy Qur’an connoting disbelievers’ perplexity.
