Al-Kāfi - The Book on Oneness of Allah (God) Chapter: Chapter On The Invalidity of the Belief to see God (Ru’yah of Allah) َّدُ بْنُ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي الْقَاسِ٠ِ عَنْ يَعْقُوبَ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ قَالَ كَتَبْتُ إِلَى أَبِي ٠َّدٍ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلا٠) أَسْأَلُهُ كَيْفَ يَعْبُدُ الْعَبْدُ رَبَّهُ وَهُوَ لا يَرَاهُ فَوَقَّعَ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلا٠) يَا أَبَا يُوسُفَ جَلَّ سَيِّدِي وَ٠ُ عَلَيَّ وَعَلَى آبَائِي أَنْ يُرَى قَالَ وَسَأَلْتُهُ هَلْ رَأَى رَسُولُ الله (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِه) رَبَّهُ فَوَقَّعَ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلا٠) إِنَّ الله تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى أَرَى رَسُولَهُ بِقَلْبِهِ ٠1.

Muhammad ibn abu ‘Abdallah has narrated from Ali ibn abu al-Qasim from Ya’qub ibn Ishaq who wrote to Imam abu Muhammad al-‘Askari and asked.

“How can a worshipper worship his Lord, Whom he does not see?” The Imam wrote in, “O abu Yusuf, my Lord, my Master, and my Benefactor and the Benefactor of my ancestors, is far exalted and is above being seen.” I (Ya’qub ibn Ishaq) asked him, “Had the Messenger of Allah (s.a.) seen his Lord?” The Imam replied in writing and signed, “Allah, the Most Holy, the Most High, showed His Prophet, in his heart, the light of His Greatness as much as He liked.” جهول أو صحيح - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (1/327)) يخرجه - Shaykh Baqir al-Behbudi (Sahih al-Kafi)
