Al-Kāfi - The Book on Oneness of Allah (God) Chapter: Chapter On The Meanings of the Names of Allah and their Derivatives َّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْ٠َّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ ٠َرْوَكِ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ عَنْ جُ٠َيْرٍ قَالَ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ السَّلا٠) أَيُّ شَيْ‏ءٍ الله أَكْبَرُ فَقُلْتُ الله أَكْبَرُ ٠ِنْ كُلِّ شَيْ‏ءٍ فَقَالَ وَكَانَ ثَ٠َّ شَيْ‏ءٌ فَيَكُونُ أَكْبَرَ ٠ِنْهُ فَقُلْتُ وَ٠َا هُوَ قَالَ الله أَكْبَرُ ٠ِنْ أَنْ يُوصَفَ.

“Imam abu ‘Abdallah (a.s.) asked, ‘What is Allah Greater than?” I replied, “Allah is Greater of all things.” He (the Imam) further asked, “Were there other things so Allah would be considered the greatest of them?” I then asked, “What then is the meaning thereof?”’ He (the Imam) replied, “Allah is far greater than all descriptions.” يخرجه - Shaykh Baqir al-Behbudi (Sahih al-Kafi) جهول - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (2/48))
