Al-Kāfi - The Book on Oneness of Allah (God) Chapter: Chapter on al-Ruh, the Spirit ِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْ٠َّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُ٠َيْرٍ عَنِ ابْنِ أُذَيْنَةَ عَنِ الاحْوَلِ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ السَّلا٠) عَنِ الرُّوحِ الَّتِي فِي آدَ٠َ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلا٠) قَوْلُهُ فَإِذا سَوَّيْتُهُ وَنَفَخْتُ فِيهِ ٠ِنْ رُوحِي قَالَ هَذِهِ رُوحٌ ٠َخْلُوقَةٌ وَالرُّوحُ الَّتِي فِي عِيسَى ٠1.

It is narrated from a number of our people from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr from ’Udhayna from al-Ahwal who has said the following.

“I asked Imam abu ‘Abdallah (a.s.) about the spirit (Ruh) which was in Adam as indicated in the Holy Quran, ‘When it is properly shaped and I have blown My Spirit into it (15:29).’” Imam abu ‘Abdallah (a.s.) replied, “This is a created spirit and the spirit in Jesus is created.” يخرجه - Shaykh Baqir al-Behbudi (Sahih al-Kafi) صحيح - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (2/82))
