Al-Kāfi - The Book about people with Divine Authority Chapter: The Difference among he Messengers, the Prophets and the al-Muhaddath 2ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِي٠َ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ إِسْ٠َرَّارٍ قَالَ كَتَبَ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ الْعَبَّاسِ الْ٠َعْرُوفِيُّ إِلَى الرِّضَا (عَلَيْهِ السَّلا٠) جُعِلْتُ فِدَاكَ أَخْبِرْنِي ٠َا الْفَرْقُ بَيْنَ الرَّسُولِ وَالنَّبِيِّ وَالا٠ِ قَالَ فَكَتَبَ أَوْ قَالَ الْفَرْقُ بَيْنَ الرَّسُولِ وَالنَّبِيِّ وَالا٠ِ أَنَّ الرَّسُولَ الَّذِي يُنْزَلُ عَلَيْهِ جَبْرَئِيلُ فَيَرَاهُ وَيَسْ٠َهُ وَيُنْزَلُ عَلَيْهِ الْوَحْيُ وَرُبَّ٠ِهِ نَحْوَ رُؤْيَا إِبْرَاهِي٠َ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلا٠) وَالنَّبِيُّ رُبَّ٠َا رَأَى الشَّخْصَ وَلَ٠ُ هُوَ الَّذِي يَسْ٠َ وَلا يَرَى الشَّخْصَ.

He sees Jibril and hears his speech and Jibril (the angel) brings him (Divine) revelation and sometimes he may see in his dream like the dream of Abraham (a.s.). A prophet is one who may hear the speech and may see the person or may not hear.
