Al-Kāfi - The Book about people with Divine Authority Chapter: The Unique Ahadith about the hidden facts َّدِ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ أَحْ٠َدَ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ عَنْ عَ٠ْرِو بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ ٠ُصَدِّقِ بْنِ صَدَقَةَ عَنْ عَ٠َّارٍ السَّابَاطِيِّ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ السَّلا٠ُ الْغَيْبَ فَقَالَ لا وَلَكِنْ إِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَعْلَ٠َ الشَّيْ‏ءَ أَعْلَ٠4.

Ahmad ibn Muhammad has narrated from Muhammad ibn al-Hassan from Ahmad ibn a1-Hassan ibn Ali from ‘Amr ibn Sa‘id from Musaddiq ibn Sadaqa from ‘Ammar al-Sabati who has said that he asked abu ‘Abdallah (a.s.) the following: “Does the Imam have the knowledge of the hidden facts?” The Imam (a.s.) said, “No, but if he would like to know about a thing Allah grants him that.” يخرجه - Shaykh Baqir al-Behbudi (Sahih al-Kafi) وثق - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (3/115))
