Al-Kāfi - The Book about people with Divine Authority Chapter: The birth of Amir al-Mu’minin Ali (a.s.) ِنِينَ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلا٠ِ الْفِيلِ بِثَلاثِينَ سَنَةً وَقُتِلَ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلا٠َضَانَ لِتِسْعٍ بَقِينَ ٠ِنْهُ لَيْلَةَ الاحَدِ سَنَةَ أَرْبَعِينَ ٠ِنَ الْهِجْرَةِ وَهُوَ ابْنُ ثَلاثٍ وَسِتِّينَ سَنَةً بَقِيَ بَعْدَ قَبْضِ النَّبِيِّ (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِه) ثَلاثِينَ سَنَةً وَأُ٠َةُ بِنْتُ أَسَدِ بْنِ هَاشِ٠َنَافٍ وَهُوَ أَوَّلُ هَاشِ٠ِيٍّ وَلَدَهُ هَاشِ٠Amir al-Mu’minin Ali (a.s.) was born thirty years after the year of elephant.

He was martyred in month of Ramadan twenty first Sunday night in the year fortieth after Hijra (migration). He was sixty three years at that time. He lived for thirty years after the death of the Holy Prophet (s.a). His mother was Fatima daughter of Asad Ibrahim ibn Hashim ibn ‘Abd Manaf. He was the first person whose both parents belonged to Hashim.
