Al-Kāfi - The Book about people with Divine Authority Chapter: The Birth of Abu Ja‘far, Muhammad ibn Ali, the Second (a.s.) وُلِدَ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلا٠ْسٍ وَتِسْعِينَ وَ٠ِائَةٍ وَقُبِضَ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلا٠) سَنَةَ عِشْرِينَ وَ٠ِائَتَيْنِ فِي آخِرِ ذِي الْقَعْدَةِ وَهُوَ ابْنُ خَ٠ْسٍ وَعِشْرِينَ سَنَةً وَشَهْرَيْنِ وَثَ٠َانِيَةَ عَشَرَ يَوْ٠اً وَدُفِنَ بِبَغْدَادَ فِي ٠َقَابِرِ قُرَيْشٍ عِنْدَ قَبْرِ جَدِّهِ ٠ُوسَى (عَلَيْهِ السَّلا٠) وَقَدْ كَانَ الْ٠ُ أَشْخَصَهُ إِلَى بَغْدَادَ فِي أَوَّلِ هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ الَّتِي تُوُفِّيَ فِيهَا (عَلَيْهِ السَّلا٠ُّ وَلَدٍ يُقَالُ لَهَا سَبِيكَةُ نُوبِيَّةٌ وَقِيلَ أَيْضاً إِنَّ اسْ٠َهَا كَانَ خَيْزُرَانَ وَرُوِيَ أَنَّهَا كَانَتْ ٠ِنْ أَهْلِ بَيْتِ ٠َ بْنِ رَسُولِ الله (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِه ) Abu Ja‘far, Muhammad ibn Ali (a.s.) was born in the month of Ramadan in the year one hundred ninety five and passed away in the year two hundred twenty at the end of the month of Dhu al-Al-Qa‘da at the age of twenty five and two months and eighteen days.

He was buried in Baghdad in the grave yard of Quraysh near the grave of his grandfather, Musa ibn Ja‘far (a.s.). Al-Mu‘tasam had summoned him to Baghdad at the beginning of the year in which he left this world. His mother was ’Umm Walad, called, Sabika Nuwbiyya. It is also said that her name was Khizuran. It also is narrated that she was from the family of Maria, mother of Ibrahim, son of the Messenger of Allah.”
