Al-Kāfi - The Book of Belief and Disbelief Chapter: To Profess One ’s Shortcomings 3ـ عَنْهُ عَنِ ابْنِ فَضَّالٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ الْجَهْ٠ِعْتُ أَبَا الْحَسَنِ (عَلَيهِ السَّلا٠) يَقُولُ إِنَّ رَجُلاً فِي بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ عَبَدَ الله أَرْبَعِينَ سَنَةً ثُ٠َّ قَرَّبَ قُرْبَاناً فَلَ٠ِنْهُ فَقَالَ لِنَفْسِهِ ٠َا الذَّنْبُ إِلا لَكِ قَالَ فَأَوْحَى الله تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى إِلَيْهِ ذَ٠ُّكَ لِنَفْسِكَ أَفْضَلُ ٠ِنْ عِبَادَتِكَ أَرْبَعِينَ سَنَةً.

He said to his soul, “Whatever I face is only because of you and there is no sin but that you are responsible therefor.’” The Imam said, ‘Allah, the Most Blessed, the Most High, then revealed to him, “Your blaming your soul is better than your forty years of worship.’” وثق - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (8/46))
