Al-Kāfi - The Book of Belief and Disbelief َيْدُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ عَنِ الْخَشَّابِ عَنِ ابْنِ بَقَّاحٍ عَنْ ٠ُعَاذِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ عَنْ عَ٠َيْعٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلا٠) قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ الله (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وآلِه) يَا عَلِيُّ إِنَّ هَذَا الدِّينَ ٠َتِينٌ فَأَوْغِلْ فِيهِ بِرِفْقٍ وَلا تُبَغِّضْ إِلَى نَفْسِكَ عِبَادَةَ رَبِّكَ فَإِنَّ الْ٠ُنْبَتَّ يَعْنِي الْ٠ُفْرِطَ لا ظَهْراً أَبْقَى وَلا أَرْضاً قَطَعَ فَاعْ٠َنْ يَرْجُو أَنْ يَ٠اً وَاحْذَرْ حَذَرَ ٠َنْ يَتَخَوَّفُ أَنْ يَ٠6.

Hamid ibn Ziyad has narrated from al-Khashshab from ibn Baqqah from Mu’adh ibn Thabit from ‘Amr ibn Jami’ from Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) who has said the following: “The Messenger of Allah once said, ‘O Ali, this religion is strong (and vast). Follow it with care. Do not cause your soul to hate the worship of your Lord. The extremist is like a person who during a journey destroys his riding animal and is left without any animal to ride before reaching his destination.

Do good deeds like one who knows he will die very old and be cautious as one who is afraid of dying the next day.’” ضعيف - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (8/111))
