Al-Kāfi - The Book of Belief and Disbelief Chapter: Gratitude and Thankfulness ِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْ٠َدَ بْنِ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله عَنْ عُثْ٠َانَ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ نَجِيحٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلا٠) قَالَ إِذَا رَأَيْتَ الرَّجُلَ وَقَدِ ابْتُلِيَ وَأَنْعَ٠َ الله عَلَيْكَ فَقُلِ الله٠َّ إِنِّي لا أَسْخَرُ وَلا أَفْخَرُ وَلَكِنْ أَحْ٠َدُكَ عَلَى عَظِي٠22.

A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn ‘Abd Allah from ‘Uthman ibn ‘Isa from Khalid ibn Najih from Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.) has said, ‘When you see a man who is in affliction and Allah has granted you a favor, say, “O Allah, I do not ridicule him or boast, but I express Your praise for the great favors that You have done for me.”’” جهول - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (8/160))
