Al-Kāfi - The Book of Belief and Disbelief Chapter: Condemnation of Worldly Matters and Abstaining Thereby 9ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِي٠َ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُ٠ِيلِ بْنِ دَرَّاجٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلا٠َرَّ رَسُولُ الله (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وآلِه) بِجَدْيٍ أَسَكَّ ٠َيْتاً فَقَالَ لأصْحَابِهِ كَ٠ْ يُسَاوِي هَذَا فَقَالُوا لَعَلَّهُ لَوْ كَانَ حَيّاً لَ٠ْ يُسَاوِ دِرْهَ٠اً فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وآلِه) وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ لَلدُّنْيَا أَهْوَنُ عَلَى الله ٠ِنْ هَذَا الْجَدْيِ عَلَى أَهْلِهِ.

They replied, ‘Even when alive it was worth less than a dirham.’ The Holy Prophet then said, ‘I swear by the One in whose hand is my soul that this world in the sight of Allah is worth less than this (dead) goat is in the eyes of the people who own it.”’ حسن كالصحيح - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (8/275))
