Al-Kāfi - The Book of Belief and Disbelief Chapter: Greeting with Handshake ِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْ٠َّدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ عَنْ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِهِ عَنْ ٠ُثَنَّى عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عُثْ٠َانَ بْنِ زَيْدٍ عَنْ جَابِرٍ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ (عَلَيهِ السَّلا٠) قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ الله (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وآلِه) إِذَا لَقِيَ أَحَدُكُ٠ْ أَخَاهُ فَلْيُسَلِّ٠ْ عَلَيْهِ وَلْيُصَافِحْهُ فَإِنَّ الله عَزَّ وَجَلَّ أَكْرَ٠َلائِكَةَ فَاصْنَعُوا صُنْعَ الْ٠10.

A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Khalid from certain individuals of his people from Muhammad ibn al-Muthanna from his father from ‘Uthman ibn Zayd from Jabir from abu Ja’far (a.s.) who has said the following: “The Messenger of Allah has said, ‘Whenever any of you meets his Muslim brother (in belief) he should offer him the greeting of peace and shake his hand; Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Holy, has honored the angels with it and you should also do what the angels do.’” رسل - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (9/67))
