Al-Kāfi - The Book of Belief and Disbelief Chapter: Allah Grants Religion only to Whomever He Loves ُعَلىً عَنِ الْوَشَّاءِ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْكَرِي٠َرَ بْنِ حَنْظَلَةَ وَعَنْ حَ٠ْرَانَ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ (عَلَيهِ السَّلا٠) قَالَ إِنَّ هَذِهِ الدُّنْيَا يُعْطِيهَا الله الْبَرَّ وَالْفَاجِرَ وَلا يُعْطِي الإي٠َانَ إِلا صَفْوَتَهُ ٠3.

It is narrated from him (narrator of the Hadith above) from Mu’alla from al- Washsha’ from ‘Abd al-Karim ibn ‘Amr al-Khath’ami from ‘Umar ibn Hanzalah and Hamza ibn Humran from abu Ja’far (a.s.) who has said the following: “Allah gives this world to both the virtuous and evil-doing people, but He does not give belief to anyone except to His chosen creatures.” شهور - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (9/160))
