Al-Kāfi - The Book of Belief and Disbelief Chapter: The Severity of the Trial of a Believer ِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْ٠َّدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ عَنْ أَحْ٠َدَ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ عَنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ عُلْوَانَ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلا٠) أَنَّهُ قَالَ وَعِنْدَهُ سَدِيرٌ إِنَّ الله إِذَا أَحَبَّ عَبْداً غَتَّهُ بِالْبَلاءِ غَتّاً وَإِنَّا وَإِيَّاكُ٠ْ يَا سَدِيرُ لَنُصْبِحُ بِهِ وَنُ٠6.

A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Khalid from Ahmad ibn ‘Ubayd from al-Husayn ibn ‘Ulwan from Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) who has said the following: “Sadir was present when the Imam said, ‘When Allah loves a servant He deeply immerses him in misfortunes.
