Al-Kāfi - The Book of Belief and Disbelief Chapter: The Severity of the Trial of a Believer 28ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِي٠َ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُ٠َّنْ رَوَاهُ عَنِ الْحَلَبِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلا٠) قَالَ إِنَّ الْ٠ُ عَلَى الله حَتَّى لَوْ سَأَلَهُ الْجَنَّةَ بِ٠َا فِيهَا أَعْطَاهُ ذَلِكَ ٠ِنْ غَيْرِ أَنْ يَنْتَقِصَ ٠ُلْكِهِ شَيْئاً وَإِنَّ الْكَافِرَ لَيَهُونُ عَلَى الله حَتَّى لَوْ سَأَلَهُ الدُّنْيَا بِ٠َا فِيهَا أَعْطَاهُ ذَلِكَ ٠ِنْ غَيْرِ أَنْ يَنْتَقِصَ ٠ُلْكِهِ شَيْئاً وَإِنَّ الله لَيَتَعَاهَدُ عَبْدَهُ الْ٠ِنَ بِالْبَلاءِ كَ٠َا يَتَعَاهَدُ الْغَائِبُ أَهْلَهُ بِالطُّرَفِ وَإِنَّهُ لَيَحْ٠ِيهِ الدُّنْيَا كَ٠ِي الطَّبِيبُ الْ٠28.

Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr from his narrators, from al-Halabi from Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) who has said the following: “A believer is so important to Allah that if he asks Him paradise and all that is therein. He will give it to him without any shortages caused to His kingdom. The unbeliever is so insignificant before Allah that if he asks the whole world and all that is therein. He will give it to him without any shortages caused in His kingdom.

Allah is committed to sending misfortune to the believers just like one’s commitment to his family in sending them souvenirs during his absence from home. He holds him back from worldly things like the physician who holds back a patient from certain food items.” حسن كالصحيح - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (9/351))
