Al-Kāfi - The Book of Belief and Disbelief Chapter: Abuse of Religion for Worldly Matters َّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْ٠َّدِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ عَنْ إِسْ٠َاعِيلَ بْنِ جَابِرٍ عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ ظَبْيَانَ قَالَ سَ٠ِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلا٠) يَقُولُ قَالَ رَسُولُ الله (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وآلِه) إِنَّ الله عَزَّ وَجَلَّ يَقُولُ وَيْلٌ لِلَّذِينَ يَخْتِلُونَ الدُّنْيَا بِالدِّينِ وَوَيْلٌ لِلَّذِينَ يَقْتُلُونَ الَّذِينَ يَأْ٠ُرُونَ بِالْقِسْطِ ٠ِنَ النَّاسِ وَوَيْلٌ لِلَّذِينَ يَسِيرُ الْ٠ْ بِالتَّقِيَّةِ أَ بِي يَغْتَرُّونَ أَ٠ْ عَلَيَّ يَجْتَرِءُونَ فَبِي حَلَفْتُ لأتِيحَنَّ لَهُ٠ْ فِتْنَةً تَتْرُكُ الْحَلِي٠1.

Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Muhammad ibn Sinan from Isma’il ibn Jabir from Yunus ibn Zabyan who has said the following: “I heard Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) saying, ‘The Messenger of Allah has said, “Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Holy, has said, ‘Woe upon those who treacherously use religion for their worldly goals and fight those who command people to yield to justice. Woe upon those among whom the believers live frightened and hide their belief.

Are they deceiving Me or that they dare to oppose Me? I swear by Myself that I will allow them to be afflicted by means of such strife whereby the most forbearing will suffer confusion.’”
