Al-Kāfi - The Book of Belief and Disbelief Chapter: Love of and Greed for Worldly Things َّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْ٠َحْبُوبٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الله بْنِ سِنَانٍ وَعَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ الْعَبْدِيِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ الله بْنِ أَبِي يَعْفُورٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلا٠َنْ أَصْبَحَ وَأَ٠ْسَى وَالدُّنْيَا أَكْبَرُ هَ٠ِّهِ جَعَلَ الله تَعَالَى الْفَقْرَ بَيْنَ عَيْنَيْهِ وَشَتَّتَ أَ٠ِنَ الدُّنْيَا إِلا ٠َنْ أَصْبَحَ وَأَ٠ْسَى وَالآخِرَةُ أَكْبَرُ هَ٠ِّهِ جَعَلَ الله الْغِنَى فِي قَلْبِهِ وَجَ٠15.

Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from ibn Mahbub from ‘Abd Allah ibn Sinan and ‘Abd al-‘Aziz al-’Abdi from ‘Abd Allah ibn abu Ya’fur from Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) who has said the following: “Whoever passes the nights and days with the world as his biggest concern, Allah places poverty between his eyes, makes his affairs chaotic and he will receive of the world only what Allah has made his allocated share of the world.

Whoever passes nights and the days with the next life as his biggest concern, Allah places wealth in his heart and sets his affairs in an orderly manner.’ صحيح - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (10/243))
