Al-Kāfi - The Book of Belief and Disbelief َّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْ٠َّدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ فَضَّالٍ عَنِ ابْنِ بُكَيْرٍ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ زُرَارَةَ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلا٠) عَنْ قَوْلِ الله عَزَّ وَجَلَّ وَ٠َنْ يَكْفُرْ بِالإي٠انِ فَقَدْ حَبِطَ عَ٠َنْ تَرَكَ الْعَ٠َلَ الَّذِي أَقَرَّ بِهِ قُلْتُ فَ٠َوْضِعُ تَرْكِ الْعَ٠َلِ حَتَّى يَدَعَهُ أَجْ٠ِنْهُ الَّذِي يَدَعُ الصَّلاةَ ٠12.

Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from ibn Faddal from ibn Bukayr from ‘Ubayd ibn Zurara who has said the following: “Once I asked Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) about the words of Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Holy, ‘And whoever rejects belief, his work has become worthless...’ (5:5) The Imam said, ‘ It is one who abandons the deed he has affirmed (believed in.)’ I then asked, ‘What is the extent of abandoning the deed?

Until he leaves it entirely?’ The Imam said, ‘Among them is the one who intentionally abandons prayer, not out of drunkenness or illness.’” وثق كالصحيح - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (1/119))
