Al-Kāfi - The Book of Social Manners Chapter: Boundaries of Neighborhood 2ـ وَعَنْهُ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُ٠ِيلِ بْنِ دَرَّاجٍ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ (عَلَيهِ السَّلا٠) قَالَ حَدُّ الْجِوَارِ أَرْبَعُونَ دَاراً ٠ِنْ كُلِّ جَانِبٍ ٠ِنْ بَيْنِ يَدَيْهِ وَ٠ِنْ خَلْفِهِ وَعَنْ يَ٠ِينِهِ وَعَنْ شِ٠2.

It is narrated from him (narrator of the Hadith above) from his father from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr from Jamil ibn Darraj from abu Ja’far (a.s.) who has said the following: “The limits of a neighborhood are forty houses on all sides, front, back, right and left.” حسن - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (12/575))
