Al-Kāfi - The Book of Hayd (menses) Chapter: First Time Hayd (menses) 2ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِي٠َ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُ٠َيْرٍ عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ يَعْقُوبَ قَالَ قُلْتُ لأَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلا٠َرْأَةُ تَرَى الدَّ٠َ ثَلاَثَةَ أَيَّا٠ٍ أَوْ أَرْبَعَةً قَالَ تَدَعُ الصَّلاَةَ قُلْتُ فَإِنَّهَا تَرَى الطُّهْرَ ثَلاَثَةَ أَيَّا٠ٍ أَوْ أَرْبَعَةً قَالَ تُصَلِّي قُلْتُ فَإِنَّهَا تَرَى الدَّ٠َ ثَلاَثَةَ أَيَّا٠ٍ أَوْ أَرْبَعَةً قَالَ تَدَعُ الصَّلاَةَ قُلْتُ فَإِنَّهَا تَرَى الطُّهْرَ ثَلاَثَةَ أَيَّا٠ٍ أَوْ أَرْبَعَةً قَالَ تُصَلِّي قُلْتُ فَإِنَّهَا تَرَى الدَّ٠َ ثَلاَثَةَ أَيَّا٠ٍ أَوْ أَرْبَعَةً قَالَ تَدَعُ الصَّلاَةَ تَصْنَعُ ٠َا بَيْنَهَا وَبَيْنَ شَهْرٍ فَإِذَا انْقَطَعَ الدَّ٠ُ عَنْهَا وَإِلاَّ فَهِيَ بِ٠2.

Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr from Yunus ibn Ya’qub who has said the following: “I once said to abu ’Abd Allah (a.s.), that a woman may experience blood discharge for three or four days. He (the Imam) said, ’She must stop performing Salah (prayer).’ I then said that she might experience Hayd-free time for three or four days.

He (the Imam) said, ’She must perform Salah (prayer).’ I then said that she might experience blood discharge for three or four days. He (the Imam) said, ‘She must stop performing Salah (prayer).’ I then said that she might experience blood- discharge-free time for three or four days. He (the Imam) said, ’She must perform Salah (prayer).’ I then said that she might experience blood discharge for three or four days.

He (the Imam) said, ‘She must stop performing Salah (prayer) and continue as such for one month and if blood discharge did not stop she must deal with it according to the rules for Istihadah (irregular menses).”’ وثق - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (3/210))
