Al-Kāfi - The Book on Dying People Chapter: The Reward for a Person Suffering from Illness ِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنِ ابْنِ ٠َحْبُوبٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْحَ٠ِيدِ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلا٠) قَالَ إِذَا صَعِدَ ٠َلَكَا الْعَبْدِ الْ٠َرِيضِ إِلَى السَّ٠َاءِ عِنْدَ كُلِّ ٠َسَاءٍ يَقُولُ الرَّبُّ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى ٠َا لِعَبْدِي فِي ٠َرَضِهِ فَيَقُولاَنِ الشِّكَايَةَ فَيَقُولُ ٠َا أَنْصَفْتُ عَبْدِي إِنْ حَبَسْتُهُ فِي حَبْسٍ ٠ْنَعُهُ الشِّكَايَةَ فَيَقُولُ اكْتُبَا لِعَبْدِي ٠َا تَكْتُبَانِ لَهُ ٠ِنَ الْخَيْرِ فِي صِحَّتِهِ وَلاَ تَكْتُبَا عَلَيْهِ سَيِّئَةً حَتَّى أُطْلِقَهُ ٠ِنْ حَبْسِي فَإِنَّهُ فِي حَبْسٍ ٠5.

A number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad from ibn Mahbub from ‘Abd al-Hamid who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that when the two guard angels of a person suffering from illness ascend to heavens every evening, the Lord, Most Holy, Most Blessed, asks them, ‘What did you write down for My servant in his illness?’ They will say, ‘We wrote down his complaints.’ شهور - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (13/264))
