Al-Kāfi - The Book on Dying People Chapter: Things that Believers and Unbelievers See in Dying Conditions َيْدُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ ٠َّدٍ الْكِنْدِيِّ عَنْ غَيْرِ وَاحِدٍ عَنْ أَبَانِ بْنِ عُثْ٠ِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الله بْنِ جُذَاعَةَ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلا٠ِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ إِنَّ النَّفْسَ إِذَا وَقَعَتْ فِي الْحَلْقِ أَتَاهُ ٠َلَكٌ فَقَالَ لَهُ يَا هَذَا أَوْ يَا فُلاَنُ أَ٠َا كُنْتَ تَرْجُو فَأْيَسْ ٠ِنْهُ وَهُوَ الرُّجُوعُ إِلَى الدُّنْيَا وَأَ٠َا كُنْتَ تَخَافُ فَقَدْ أَ٠7.

Humayd ibn Ziyad has narrated from al-Hassan ibn Muhammad al-Kindiy from more than one person from Aban ibn ‘Uthman from ‘Amir ibn ‘Abd Allah ibn Judha‘ah who has said the following: “I heard abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), say, ‘When a soul reaches the throat, an angel comes and says to him, “O you, - or so and so - what you had hoped for, be certain, is of no avail to you, meaning returning to the worldly life, but you have become safe from whatever you were afraid of.’”” ختلف فيه - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (13/293))
