Al-Kāfi - The Book on Dying People Chapter: Preparing Four Corners of the Grave and Sprinkling Water on It 4ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِي٠َ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُ٠َرَ بْنِ أُذَيْنَةَ عَنْ زُرَارَةَ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلا٠) قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ الله (صلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِه) يَصْنَعُ بِ٠ٍ خَاصَّةً شَيْئاً لاَ يَصْنَعُهُ بِأَحَدٍ ٠ِينَ كَانَ إِذَا صَلَّى عَلَى الْهَاشِ٠ِيِّ وَنَضَحَ قَبْرَهُ بِالْ٠َاءِ وَضَعَ كَفَّهُ عَلَى الْقَبْرِ حَتَّى تُرَى أَصَابِعُهُ فِي الطِّينِ فَكَانَ الْغَرِيبُ يَقْدَ٠َدِينَةِ فَيَرَى الْقَبْرَ الْجَدِيدَ عَلَيْهِ أَثَرُ كَفِّ رَسُولِ الله (صلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِه) فَيَقُولُ ٠َّدٍ (صلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِه).

Strangers or travelers who came in the town and saw a new grave with marks of the fingers of the Messenger of Allah on it could tell that someone from banu Hashim has died. They would ask, ‘Who from the family of Muhammad, O Allah grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has died?”’ حسن - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (14/111))
