Al-Kāfi - The Book on Dying People Chapter: Suffering Due to the Death of a Son َّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْ٠َّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى وَعِدَّةٌ ٠ِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ جَ٠ِيعاً عَنِ ابْنِ ٠ِهْرَانَ قَالَ كَتَبَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ الثَّانِي (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلا٠) يَشْكُو إِلَيْهِ ٠ُصَابَهُ بِوَلَدِهِ وَشِدَّةَ ٠َا دَخَلَهُ فَكَتَبَ إِلَيْهِ أَ ٠ْتَ أَنَّ الله عَزَّ وَجَلَّ يَخْتَارُ ٠ِنْ وُلْدِهِ أَنْفَسَهُ لِيَأْجُرَهُ عَلَى ذَلِكَ.

The Imam wrote to him, ‘Do you know that Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Glorious, chooses from the property and sons of the believing people the most valuable items so He will reward him in the same way (with most valuable reward)?”’ صحيح - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (4/170))
