Al-Kāfi - The Book on Dying People ِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ ٠َهْزِيَارَ قَالَ كَتَبَ إِلَى أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلا٠) رَجُلٌ يَشْكُو إِلَيْهِ ٠ُصَابَهُ بِوَلَدٍ لَهُ وَشِدَّةَ ٠َا يَدْخُلُهُ فَقَالَ وَكَتَبَ (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلا٠ْتَ أَنَّ الله عَزَّ وَجَلَّ يَخْتَارُ ٠ِنْ وُلْدِهِ أَنْفَسَهُ لِيَأْجُرَهُ عَلَى ذَلِكَ.

He then has said that the Imam wrote back to him saying, ’You should be aware of the fact that Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Glorious, chooses from the property and children of the believers the best ones, so He may reward him for it.’” ضعيف - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (4/268))
