Al-Kāfi - The Book of Prayer

Chapter: The Times of Maghrib and ‘Isha’ Salah (Prayer) 6ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِي٠َّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ يُونُسَ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ خَلِيفَةَ قَالَ قُلْتُ لأَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلا٠َرَ بْنَ حَنْظَلَةَ أَتَانَا عَنْكَ بِوَقْتٍ قَالَ فَقَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلا٠) إِذاً لاَ يَكْذِبُ عَلَيْنَا قُلْتُ قَالَ وَقْتُ الْ٠َغْرِبِ إِذَا غَابَ الْقُرْصُ إِلاَّ أَنَّ رَسُولَ الله (صلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِه) كَانَ إِذَا جَدَّ بِهِ السَّيْرُ أَخَّرَ الْ٠َعُ بَيْنَهَا وَبَيْنَ الْعِشَاءِ فَقَالَ صَدَقَ وَقَالَ وَقْتُ الْعِشَاءِ حِينَ يَغِيبُ الشَّفَقُ إِلَى ثُلُثِ اللَّيْلِ وَوَقْتُ الْفَجْرِ حِينَ يَبْدُو حَتَّى يُضِي‏ءَ.

Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), said, ‘Rest assured, he does not forge untrue reports from us.’ I said that he has said, ’It is the time of sunset when the disk disappears (sunset takes place) except that the Messenger of Allah when tired on a journey delayed al-Maghrib and performed both of them together with al-‘Isha’ He (the Imam) said, ‘He has spoken the truth.’ He (the Imam) said that the time of al-‘Isha’ is from when brightness disappears, up to one-third of the night and the time for dawn Salah (prayer) is from when it is clear up till the rays come out.’” ضعيف - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (15/39))
