Al-Kāfi - The Book of Prayer

Chapter: The Opening Readings When Commencing Salah (prayer) 6ـ وَرَوَاهُ أَيْضاً عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَبْدِ الله بْنِ الْ٠ُغِيرَةِ وَفَسَّرَهُنَّ فِي الظُّهْرِ إِحْدَى وَعِشْرِينَ تَكْبِيرَةً وَفِي الْعَصْرِ إِحْدَى وَعِشْرِينَ تَكْبِيرَةً وَفِي الْ٠َغْرِبِ سِتَّ عَشْرَةَ تَكْبِيرَةً وَفِي الْعِشَاءِ الآخِرَةِ إِحْدَى وَعِشْرِينَ تَكْبِيرَةً وَفِي الْفَجْرِ إِحْدَى عَشْرَةَ تَكْبِيرَةً وَخَ٠ْسَ تَكْبِيرَاتِ الْقُنُوتِ فِي خَ٠6.

He (Ali ibn Ibrahim) has narrated it also from his father from ‘Abd Allah ibn al-Mughirah. In explaining he has said that in al-Dhuhr there are twenty-one, in al-‘Asr twenty-one, in al-Maghrib sixteen, in al-‘Isha’ al-Akhirah twenty-one and in the morning Salah (prayer) there are eleven and in the five Qunut there are five Takbir (Allah is great beyond description). حسن - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (15/99))
