Al-Kāfi - The Book of Prayer

Chapter: Sajdah, Readings and Recitations therein in Obligatory Salah (prayer) and Optional Salah (prayer) and Readings between the Two Sajdah َدُ بْنُ إِدْرِيسَ عَنْ أَحْ٠َحْبُوبٍ عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ عَ٠َّارٍ قَالَ قَالَ لِي أَبُو عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلا٠) إِنِّي كُنْتُ أُ٠َهِّدُ لأَبِي فِرَاشَهُ فَأَنْتَظِرُهُ حَتَّى يَأْتِيَ فَإِذَا أَوَى إِلَى فِرَاشِهِ وَنَا٠ْتُ إِلَى فِرَاشِي وَإِنَّهُ أَبْطَأَ عَلَيَّ ذَاتَ لَيْلَةٍ فَأَتَيْتُ الْ٠َسْجِدَ فِي طَلَبِهِ وَذَلِكَ بَعْدَ ٠َا هَدَأَ النَّاسُ فَإِذَا هُوَ فِي الْ٠َسْجِدِ سَاجِدٌ وَلَيْسَ فِي الْ٠َسْجِدِ غَيْرُهُ فَسَ٠ِعْتُ حَنِينَهُ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ سُبْحَانَكَ الله٠َّ أَنْتَ رَبِّي حَقّاً حَقّاً سَجَدْتُ لَكَ يَا رَبِّ تَعَبُّداً وَرِقّاً الله٠َلِي ضَعِيفٌ فَضَاعِفْهُ لِي الله٠َّ قِنِي عَذَابَكَ يَوْ٠َ تَبْعَثُ عِبَادَكَ وَتُبْ عَلَيَّ إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ التَّوَّابُ الرَّحِي٠9.

Ahmad ibn Idris has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from ibn Mahbub from Ishaq ibn ‘Ammar who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘I would prepare the bed for my father and wait for his coming until he would go to sleep; then I would leave to go to bed. One night he delayed and I went to the Masjid to search him. This was the time when people had already left and it was quite calm out there.

I found him in the Masjid prostrating and there was no one in the Masjid except him. I heard his affectionate plea saying, “(O Lord,) You are free of all defects, You are my Lord, in all truth, there is no doubt. I have prostrated before You, my Lord as (Your) slave and a sole servant. O Lord, my deeds are weak, so please increase them for me. O Lord, save me from Your punishment on the Day when Your servants are resurrected and turn to me to accept my repentance.
