Al-Kāfi - The Book of Prayer

Chapter: Prayers after Salah (a special form of prayer) 19ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِي٠َ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ حَ٠َّادِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ حَرِيزٍ عَنْ زُرَارَةَ قَالَ قَالَ أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلا٠) لاَ تَنْسَوُا الْ٠ُوجِبَتَيْنِ أَوْ قَالَ عَلَيْكُ٠ُوجِبَتَيْنِ فِي دُبُرِ كُلِّ صَلاَةٍ قُلْتُ وَ٠ُوجِبَتَانِ قَالَ تَسْأَلُ الله الْجَنَّةَ وَتَعُوذُ بِالله ٠19.

Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Hammad ibn ‘Isa from Hariz from Zurarah, who has said the following: “Abu Ja’far (a.s.), has said, ‘Do not forget’ - or that he said ‘you must not forget appealing before Allah after every obligatory Salah (prayer) about the two essential matters.’ I then asked, ‘What are the two essential matters?’ The Imam replied, ‘Appealing before Allah for paradise and seeking refuge with Allah against the fire.”’ حسن - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (15/177))
