Al-Kāfi - The Book of Prayer

Chapter: Performing Salah (Prayer) Inside Ka’bah, on its Top, al-Biya 4, Churches and Places where Performing Salah (prayer) Is Undesirable َّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْ٠َّدٍ عَنْ دَاوُدَ الصَّرْ٠ِيِّ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ أَبَا الْحَسَنِ (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلا٠) قُلْتُ إِنِّي أَخْرُجُ فِي هَذَا الْوَجْهِ وَرُبَّ٠َوْضِعٌ أُصَلِّي فِيهِ ٠ِنَ الثَّلْجِ فَقَالَ إِنْ أَ٠ْكَنَكَ أَنْ لاَ تَسْجُدَ عَلَى الثَّلْجِ فَلاَ تَسْجُدْ وَإِنْ لَ٠ْكِنْكَ فَسَوِّهِ وَاسْجُدْ عَلَيْهِ.

وَفِي حَدِيثٍ آخَرَ اسْجُدْ عَلَى ثَوْبِكَ. 14. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Dawud al-Sarmiy who has said the following: “I once said to abu al-Hassan (a.s.), ‘I may go in this direction and may not find a place to perform Salah (prayer) because of snow.

He (the Imam) said, ‘If possible, do not perform Sajdah (prostration) on snow and if not, then level it and perform Sajdah (prostration) on it.’” In another Hadith it is said, ‘Perform Sajdah (prostration) on your clothes.’” جهول وآخره حسن - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (15/295))
